Spanish

At John Clifford, we aim to ensure that every child develops a positive and confident approach to language learning. We want our pupils to appreciate how learning a language can improve their career opportunities and experience of the world in adulthood. The focus is on language awareness and the acquisition of generic language skills, which is beneficial when learning a new language, and also English, home languages, and future languages the children will learn. It is an ethos that firmly promotes bilingualism as an asset.

The MFL curriculum closely allows close links between subjects across school, including geography and history. The children learn Spanish vocabulary skills through computing lessons too, and are taught the importance of being a dual linguist.
